Mouth By Mouth sees His Name Is Alive stepping out of the shadows and into a more immediate, song-driven sound—while still retaining the experimental edge that defines their work. Originally released in 1993, the album blends dream pop, indie rock and subtle electronic textures into a richer, more accessible palette.
At the centre is the striking vocal presence of Lovetta Pippen, whose soulful, expressive delivery adds a new dimension to the band’s layered sound. Songs feel more defined here—grooves are tighter, melodies more direct—yet there’s still a sense of atmosphere and unpredictability running throughout.
Pressed on 150g vinyl, this reissue brings added warmth and clarity to the recordings, highlighting both the rhythmic drive and the intricate details beneath. Mouth By Mouth stands as a key moment in the band’s evolution—bold, distinctive and quietly adventurous.
